To ensure that each cut matches your needs, you can adjust the depth to within 1/64 of an inch. The 691 includes a D-handle base with a locking trigger (which you can turn on/off without fumbling or looking away from your work), and can also be used with Porter-Cable's plunge base or dual-handle fixed base (sold separately), making it a snap to change out bases as your project demands.
